Ilya Hovzich

Position: opera soloist
Education: Belorussian State Academy of Music (2008) followed by a two years post-graduate course at Conservatorio Guiseppe Verdi of Milano.
Competitions and awards: prizes in the Bella Voce Vocal Contest in Moscow (2006), Iuventis Canti in Vrable, Slovenia, (2007), and in Dvorak International Vocal Competition (2008).
Additional information:
When a student, he debuted as Jose in Carmen, and Alfredo in La Traviata. His current repertory also includes Rodolfo in La Boheme, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Duca in Rigoletto, Lykov in Rimsky-Korsakov’s Tsar’s Bride, and Grigory in Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov.
In 2009, Ilia appeared as Gran Saccerdote in a consert performance of Mozart’s Idomeneo with «Musica Viva» chamber orchestra conducted by Alexander Rudin. In 2010, he made a remarkable appearance as Tybalt in a concert performance of Gounod’s Romeo et Juliette with «New Russia State Symphony Orchestra» conducted by Benjamin Pionier, sharing the success with Stephan Castello and Maria Alejanders. Later that year, in the course of Mstislav Rostropovich Festival, he sang Cassio in a concert performance of Othello with the Bolshoi State Orchestra under the baton of Zoltan Pesko.

Participation in master classes
George Darden, Lora Claycobe, Vito Brunelli, Dyane Zola, Gloria Borelli.
Since October 2009, a member of the Bolshoi of Moscow’s Young Artists Programme (Artistic Director Dmitri Vdovin).
